MERLIN A small falcon with 900 to 1,500 breeding pairs it breeds on open moorland, spending the summer months April to September in southwest England, Wales, northern England and Scotland. In winter (October to April) they come down to lower ground and can be found over much of lowland England.

HOBBY There are 900–1,500 breeding pairs and it can be seen between April to October throughout England and just into southern Wales and southern Scotland. It favours quarries and open heathland. In the winter months they move to inland and lowland areas with many more visitors from Iceland.
